Summary/History: The wiki kinda sucks, but here’s a link for your perusal:
Wiki: http://etrian.wikia.com/wiki/Simon_Yorke

The game doesn’t go into a lot of detail about Simon’s past. What we know? He grew up in a city called Gotham, a mining town. Which, like many of the bigger cities, was built around one of the Labyrinths of Yggdrasil. He was a teenager when some sort of weapon destroyed Gotham, but he survived, along with a child named Arthur, who he managed to save from the event. Simon and his new brother went to the Midgard Library, a place where information and knowledge, and orphans, are kept. And while there, he trained to be a medic (healer timez, whoo!)

At some point, he becomes part of an Investigation team at the Library, made up of himself, Arthur, and Raquna, a shield baring noblewoman from a far away land called Ontario (I am not making this shit up). They’re sent to a town on another labyrinth named Etria to investigate earthquakes that were happening with no logical source. They end up meeting with a Highlander (the PC) and a girl named Frederica in a ruin near the labyrinth. After fighting a monster that had been chasing the Investigation Team, they join together to get through the ruin Gladsheim to return to the city of Etria.

At this point, they join together as an Exploration Guild that was working for the Radha to figure out more about the earthquakes and what was going on in the labyrinth, as there seemed to be stronger, and more, monsters running amok in it. The group ends up exploring the labyrinth to take care of the monsters and explore more of Gladsheim, because Frederica mentions that they need to go through there… although she doesn’t know why due to her having amnesia.

Once the group reaches a certain point of the ruins, they find a computer named M.I.K.E. who was a friend of Frederica’s and able to restore her memories. She and Mike are from 1000 years in the past, and they volunteered to be part of the Gungnir project. 1000 years before, the planet they were on had become too polluted, and in order to combat this, a Yggdrasil tree was planted on each continent to absorb the pollution. But, there was a problem. After all this time and pollution, it could become sentient, creating the Yggdrasil Core, which could leave the labyrinth and re-corrupt the planet with all the gunk it absorbed. Gungnir was the weapon that was created to eliminate the Core in the future. And they had to activate it to save Etria.

Throughout the next few areas of the labyrinth, they ran into a girl named Kupala, a Forest Folk woman who were there to protect a god within the Yggdrasil. They stayed within the labyrinth, and humans were outside of it, due to the end of a war, where they agreed on it. But, humans started exploring the labyrinth again, against this agreement. Kupala also mentioned that some of the Forest Folk were becoming sick from an illness that sent them into rage. Returning to the city, Visil, the leader, declared this as lies… and records may have been doctored.

Returning to Gladsheim, they discover that this illness is due to the Core, and the Forest Folk were falling to it first due to living within the labyrinth. Visil declared that the Forest Folk should be eliminated, probably due to the madness that made them attack humans, but the Highlander didn’t want to kill them, due to his tribe’s code. They kept exploring while having to kill the corrupted Forest Folk, and ran into Kupala again, who summoned a powerful monster that the guild ended up killing, and she was out of life energy, almost dying, but the Highlander and the guild decided to save her, taking her back to the city. She’s taken care of by Quinn, the second in command at the Radha, while the guild heads back into the labyrinth to find the Forest Folk’s holy land.

Ends up, this holy land is Shinjuku… well, the ruins of it. It’s been crystallized by the labyrinth, and was once a metropolis called… Tokyo. At least, before Frederica had been put to sleep for 1000 years. After this stratum, they found the final area of Gladsheim, which included Gimle, a weapon used by MIKE to clear the monsters from the area.

Ricky (aka Frederica, as her nickname had been changed when her memories were restored, I just forgot to say that), at this point explained that if they were to activate Gungnir, the Labyrinth, Etria, and a generous chunk of the surrounding area would be destroyed. Does this sound familiar? Well, it might, because it was probably a different Gungnir that had destroyed Gotham. MIKE thought it was the best way to destroy the Core, but again, the Highlander’s code would let him sacrifice so much life to “Save” the area from the Core. MIKE tries to force Ricky to ‘repair’ her brain, because she should agree with him, not the Highlander.

This leads to them having to fight Gimle, before leaving the ruins to go further into Shinjuku to try to find Visil, who had gone missing, and end up having to fight through people they had met earlier in their exploration. They were guarding the area Visil had gone into, and after they are defeated, the guild is given a card that will allow them to enter the remaining area of the labyrinth.

Ricky remembered why Visil had sounded familiar. He was one of the men who developed the Yggdrasil, and after Quinn let her see the historical records, she found out that Visil, who was still alive after 1000 years somehow, had a serum that would weaken the Core, and possibly let them defeat it without using Gungnir. They end up finding Visil in the forest, and due to being fused to part of the Yggdrasil. They fought him and won, reporting his death to the city and returning to the labyrinth to find a way to fight the Core.

Confronting the Core, the serum works, and they defeat it, but it revives itself to it’s previous strength. Kupala shows up, and sacrifices herself to give her power to the Guildmembers’ weapons in order for them to defeat the Core a second, and final time.

But, this wasn’t the end of their story. When they return to Etria, there is an earthquake and a bright light, coming from the ruins of Gladsheim. Returning, the Guild finds out that MIKE started the process to activate Gungnir and under full power. This wouldn’t reach the already dead Core, but would end up destroying the same area including Gladsheim, Etria, and other towns.

They confront MIKE, who they have to fight in a robot body, defeating him and causing him to shut down, shutting down Gungnir with himself. At this point, their quest is over and Etria is safe. Ricky leaves to explore with the Highlander, and Simon, Arthur, and Raquna return to the library, inviting the other two to stop by in the future.

Personality: For a man in his twenties, Simon is very intelligent. He’s cautious, and seems to be the opposite of Arthur. Probably coming from the fact he’s Arthur’s father/brother figure after saving him at Gotham. The rest of the group depend on him for information because he really knows a lot, and is pretty humble about it. He’s always one for taking a second to think about things instead of running into battle. But even though he’s calm, he can sometimes be sarcastic, mostly in his guildmates direction. He tends to be polite, but definitely has that older brother snark towards Arthur.

Powers/Abilities: Simon is considered a Medic, so he has healing powers. He can heal someone’s wounds and also clear status effects like poison and the like. He also carries a Grimoire stone that gives him the abilities of a Landsknecht, who use swords and sword abilities. Also, of course, good with puzzles and etc because he’s the brains of the group.

Items on your character: Healing supplies, a sword, a blue book he always seems to carry with him. Along with his clothes and a satchel that we don’t know what’s actually inside. He just carries it everywhere.
